Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, Volubilis (Walili) was the capital of Mauretania, founded by the famous Juba II (Cleopatra's husband Selene, the daughter of Cleopatra and Mark Antony) in the 3rd century BC. Important post of the Roman Empire, this ancient city located near Meknes abounded with many monuments: a forum, a basilica, a capitol, or baths.
